"Madame LaPin" - Jacmel Haiti

Mona is a mother to eight children, thankfully all survived the tragedy. She is very much like her dress, alive, full of spirit and in her own words..."Yes I have lots of hope, yes..I am very hopeful". What may appear to be a simple event, Mona is living in a tent with barely enough water to drink or food to eat let alone finding the energy to get dressed up in her best clothes for a portrait. Given the suffering and the hard ships being endured, a pretty dress and such a beautiful smile is in many ways a testament to the human spirit, to Haitian pride and to Madame LaPin's courage.
